Central-Phenix City stayed unbeaten in region play by handling Auburn High 42-10, while Opelika got back in the win column with a 38-8 result over Johnson/Abernathy/Graetz. No Region 2 team played Thursday.

Opelika 38, JAG 8
The Bulldogs (2-2, 2-1 in region play) bounced back from their Sept. 11 loss to Central-Phenix City with their second region win of the season. Opelika has now scored 38 points in each of its two region victories, over Enterprise on Sept. 4 and JAG on Friday. The Jaguars fell to 1-3 overall and 1-2 in the region. Central-Phenix City 42, Auburn High 10
Auburn High went to Phenix City with an unbeaten region record and left with its first region loss. Central quarterback Bobby Coleman completed 23 of 31 passes for 422 yards and four touchdowns, including scoring passes of 60, 31 and 57 yards to Braylen Averett and a 57-yarder to Mike Bass, according to AL.com. It was the Red Devils’ fourth straight win. The winner of this matchup has taken the region title in each of the past 12 years. Auburn High is 3-2 overall, 2-1 in the region. Around the region
Enterprise picked up its first region win at Dothan, where Caleb Nalls rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns and the Wildcats’ backs combined for 325 yards and five scores, per the Dothan Eagle. Carver-Montgomery won its second straight region game at Smiths Station, which is still looking for its first win in its first season back in Class 6A.
