Auburn dug out of an early double-digit hole and rallied late, but Florida running back Jadan Baugh ran for 162 yards and three touchdowns to carry the Gators to a 44-39 win Saturday night in the SEC opener for both teams and both first-year head coaches.
Florida piled up 495 yards of offense. Quarterback Aaron Philo completed 58% of his passes for 204 yards and a touchdown. The Gators led at every break — 7-3, 20-17 and 34-24 — before Auburn’s 15-point fourth quarter fell short in front of a sold-out Jordan-Hare Stadium.
The Tigers fall to 2-1 and host Vanderbilt (3-0) for Homecoming on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 4:15 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
