Opelika Man Charged With Burglary and Theft at an Auburn Business

Auburn police, with help from the Opelika Police Department, have arrested a 31-year-old Opelika man in a burglary reported at a local business, CNAW 2 News and the Opelika-Auburn News reported.

Romen Bentley Cockrell, 31, of Opelika, was arrested Tuesday, Sept. 22, and charged with third-degree burglary and fourth-degree theft of property, according to the Auburn Police Department. He was taken to the Lee County Jail and held on a $4,000 bond.

Police did not publicly name the business. As with any arrest, the charges are accusations, and Cockrell is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
