Central-Phenix City 31, Opelika 24
The Bulldogs had the state’s No. 2-ranked team even at 24-24 with under five minutes to play at Bulldog Stadium before Central-Phenix City scored again to take the Class 6A Region 2 game. Auburn 28, Enterprise 21
Auburn High won at Enterprise for its third straight victory and moved to 2-0 in Class 6A Region 2, in a meeting of two ranked teams. Quarterback Mac Houston threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Bradon Cook in the fourth quarter, per AL.com’s live updates. The Tigers are 3-1 and have won all three of their road games. Beulah 49, Geneva 35
Beulah bounced back from its loss at Pike County with a high-scoring win at home over Geneva in Class 3A Region 2. The Bobcats are 3-1. Next up: at Bullock County, Friday, Sept. 18.

Beauregard
Beauregard played on Thursday, Sept. 10 — outside this weekend’s window — and lost 42-0 at Charles Henderson in Class 4A Region 4. The Hornets are 0-4. Next up: vs. Marbury, Friday, Sept. 18.
Auburn 43, Southern Miss 8
Auburn’s home opener was over early. The Tigers returned an interception 29 yards for a touchdown on the game’s opening drive, led 17-0 after the first quarter and finished with 610 total yards in front of a Jordan-Hare Stadium crowd on Saturday night. Alabama 45, Kentucky 17
No. 12 Alabama trailed 17-13 at the half at Kroger Field and then scored 32 unanswered points to open SEC play with a win. Quarterback Keelon Russell threw for 188 yards and a touchdown; Trae’shawn Brown capped the scoring with a 4-yard run. Alabama is 2-0, 1-0 in the SEC (Alabama Athletics).
