Opelika Minister Robert Miller Turns His Own ‘Empty Wells’ Into a Book on Faith

Robert Miller, who serves in ministry at Tenth Street Church of Christ in Opelika, has written “Wells With No Water,” a book about chasing fulfillment in things that can’t provide it, the Opelika Observer reported.

The title comes from 2 Peter 2:17. Miller told the Observer that the book started out being about what “people” chase: success, relationships, careers. As he wrote, “‘people’ became ‘me.'” He draws on his own life, including baseball, military service in Afghanistan, marriage and family, ministry, mission work in Africa and India, church hurt and personal failures. He says it is not a memoir.

“I preach grace because I need it,” Miller told the paper. He said he wrote it for people whose lives look complete from the outside but feel something is missing, and for anyone who wonders whether God could still want them after making a mess of things.
