Homecoming Parade Friday Closes Downtown Auburn Streets; Cars Left on the Route Will Be Towed

Auburn University’s Homecoming Parade rolls through downtown Auburn on Friday, Sept. 25, and the city is warning drivers well ahead of time.

Streets along the route close at 4 p.m., and the parade begins at 6 p.m. Every vehicle parked in on-street parking along the route must be moved by 5 p.m.; anything left after that will be towed at the owner’s expense. Parking spaces will be coned off gradually beginning at 3 p.m. to cut down on towing. Drivers may still enter the Gay Street Parking Deck until 4 p.m.

The parade starts at Thach Avenue and College Street, heads east on Thach, north on Gay Street, west on Tichenor Avenue and south on College back to Thach. A pep rally on Samford Lawn follows immediately.

The city expects heavy traffic near the route and is advising drivers to plan alternates. Homecoming weekend also brings Auburn’s Fall Family Weekend, Sept. 25-27, a Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit concert at the Gogue Center’s Ham Amphitheatre on Friday at 7 p.m., and Saturday’s 3:15 p.m. football game against Vanderbilt.
