Auburn’s first home game of the season was decided in the first quarter. The Tigers returned an interception 29 yards for a touchdown on Southern Miss’ opening drive, led 17-0 after one quarter and won 43-8 on Saturday night at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Auburn finished with 610 total yards and intercepted two passes. Southern Miss (1-1) scored its only points just before halftime on a 1-yard touchdown pass from Ethan Hampton to Steven Robinson and a two-point conversion, capping a 14-play, 75-yard drive, according to Southern Miss athletics.
