Race Weekend inBirmingham

It’s a cool cloudy morning at the Barber Motorsports Park with temperature in the low 60s. Teams began at 7:30 this morning with practice for tomorrows races. I’ll probably head over to the paddock area to visit with the APR folks. Camping spaces is plenty big, although my spot has a bit of drop off, but I was still able to level the Jayco Featherlite camper without any trouble. The camping area was very quiet… Read More

Jefferson’s Resaurant Opens Monday – Burgers, Wings & Oysters, Oh My!

Let me start by saying I really like the double dipped wings at Jefferson’s .  Now I don’t think they are on the weight loss program right now, but the new owners dropped a few in front of me and Redman on Saturday for a preview taste and I certainly didn’t want to be rude.  If you ever went into the old Shoe Shop on South Railroad at 9th Street you’d probably wonder how they… Read More

Adventure in Education – Pioneer Park

Opelika’s First Annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration

Opelika Main Street hosted the first celebration of an event that I celebrated year after year in Savannah.  After all, there, it was the second or third largest event nationwide,  depending on who you believe in the news.  Of course, the Irish Bred Pub probably is the cause of this event, with their arrival last year and the big party they had. And downtown came to enjoy the event with kids playing on Railroad Avenue… Read More
