Header Picture March 1st

Well that’s Arlo & Janis Creator and Sailboat Captain Jimmy Johnson in the header picture today.  It’s in the post for those not visiting on the first.  For several years we’ve had a little wager about weight loss that I’ve lost more than a few times.  This year, Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner (Well, Grilled Chicken if you don’t mind).  Jim and I along with a few friends gathered for the payoff at Ma Fia’s on… Read More

About that Daytona 500…

Well, that was one wild racing weekend.  As one that has labored thru a rain delayed weekend, last year’s Labor Day event at Atlanta Motor Speedway (AMS), I understand a true fans desire to hang in and wait for the race.  I’ve read several comments in the past day or so about the race.  An iPad only daily newspaper, The Daily, pretty much gave it thumbs down (not their words) and indicated it was dull… Read More

Ladies Start Your Engines

Danica Patrick wasn’t the only woman behind the wheel in the Nationwide race on Saturday at Daytona.  It was quite a race, no cortical stimulator needed today (Sorry I’ve been watching Star Trek Voyager the past few weeks). If the Bud Shootout and the qualifying races, plus today’s Nationwide race are any indication, the Dayton 500 is going to be crazy. But I’m getting off track. Enter Johanna Long driving the #70 Biomet – Foretravel… Read More

Audra is a flight attendant for Continental, or the new United Airlines.   You… Read More

A New Look to ODN

If you’re one that has visited the Opelika Daily News site the past few days, you may be dizzy from all the changes or different looks.  Well, it should be settled down a bit, with a rotating header (Go ahead, refresh the screen and you’ll see a different picture every minute or so) an added column for Twitter Feeds, that get a regular update and more content.  I’ve even made the font a little bigger… Read More

Opelika City Wide Cleanup – March 3rd

On Saturday, March 3rd volunteers of Keep Opelika Beautiful will be participating in the Citywide Cleanup. This local effort, an extension of the national program, Great American Cleanup, is an opportunity for citizens to join together in the fight against litter. Dr. Bob Patton has again agreed to chair the local event. Over 300 volunteers joined Keep Opelika Beautiful in 2011 to participate in the event. Established by Keep America Beautiful, Inc., the nation’s premier… Read More
