Caution â Watch Out for “Jumper Cable” Man
Remember a few days ago I told you about a man that sat down next to me at a local resturant, wanted jumper cables and when I said I didn’t have any, he wanted me to give him a ride home? I suspect he’s back and in the neighborhood. Several folks reported a man knocking on their door (after dark) asking about Jumper Cables and then seeking a ride home. For crying out loud folks, if you… Read More
Weekend Wrapup
Ran into Charlie Jernigan at Hal Smith’s Store on Sunday evening. I thought for sure he was searching for a Budweiser, but nope, it was milk. He had some nice things to say about the site and said I should add a link to his site. I’ve done that now, and don’t know where the one I had went. I did loose a few things in the transition. Got a link you’d like me to add… Read More
Alabama Spay Neuter License Plate a Good Idea
Apparently the idea of the tag didn’t go over good a few years ago when folks tried to get this special tag to raise money and let folks know about a cause. One of the things the folks at the Lee County Humane Society did when I adopted Mitch last week was to tell me about the tag. After a quick search on the Society’s website, I found a discussion about the tag from Jack Fisher… Read More
Weekend Update â Adoption Progress
It’s been a good week for the new addition to the family. Mitch and Bo have become friends after turf battles this week. After having coffee with neighbors at Red Door June this morning, we were off to the Humane Society for the Wash & Wag, a dog cleaning event held every other week or so at the Shelter. That went pretty good, so that may become a regular trip to Auburn. The first few… Read More

The Coal Men at The Rail
Friday Night (June 27th) at Eighth and Rail it’s The Coal Men – Some people measure life in years. Dave Coleman measures it in moments. And capturing the impact of a moment is what the singer, guitarist and principal songwriter of The Coal Men set out to do on “Beauty Is a Moment,” the band’s second full-length release. For instance, there’s the moment on the title track when a boy swings an axe and brings… Read More
Mitch Joins the Katz Family
I don’t know, maybe I’m just crazy, but I’ve adopted a mutt from the Lee County Humane Society, so Bo has a daytime playmate. He’s been here for about 4 hours and I’m worn completely out! Mitch is a bigger dog than Bo, maybe part Doberman, but as sweet as any dog you’d find anywhere.  As I usually do, I’ve talked about this a few days with friends. Much like politics, I have Blue Adoption Friends… Read More
Red Door Update
Let’s see. I noticed that Red Door June Coffee & Floral Company got their website up today, complete with menu. Here’s that Link! Also, the Floral part of the shop that wasn’t going to open until the Fall has already added some things due to some local request. Drop by and check it out.  Grabbed the chopped salad and that Boston lager at Outback after a cold coffee drink at Red Door June after… Read More
New at Humane Society
The Lee County Humane Society has a new “Blog Based” website that looks great and is more informational that the previous site. Check it out here! Also, there is a new face at the Lee County Humane Society and it’s not a cat, dog or Guinea pig. Stacee Strength is the new Director of Public Relations and Development. Growing up in Valley, Stacee’s stomping grounds are just a stones throw from Lee County. She left… Read More
