More Downtown Work Underway

I noticed that John Rice had some folks taking old paint from the Spin Clean that’s been vacant for the past year or so.  If you look close at the building you can see the building was a resturant in the past. There was a rumor of another cafe opening in the spot, but I think that may just be “Street Talk” and not the case for now. More recently as the Spin Clean, there… Read More

KOB Tree Recycling Held Saturday In Opelika

That’s Shirley Flora in the Yellow Parker.  The Annual Christmas Tree Recycling from Keep Opelika Beautiful and the Opelika Tree Commissionwas held on Saturday at the Chamber of Commerce.  Not as many trees as in year past.  Shirley will probably have more in her articles on the KOB Site!  The OA News Story tells the fate of the gathered trees.   By the way, you can still drop trees off at the Chamber thru Wednesday… Read More

Do I Really Need 5 Blades?

Every year about this time, I get the latest and greatest in shavers.  In years gone by, I have used the electric models, but the past few years it’s just a plain old blade.  So last year it was three blades and now the new Gillette FUsion has 5 blades and another one for trimming the sideburns.  Okay, and I don’t really shave every days anyway.  I like that “Day Old Brad Pitt Look” that… Read More

The Next Bug? Life is Just a Bowl of Chery’s

Hypergiant Plays New Year’s Eve at Eighth & Rail

Hypergiant is playing New Years Eve at Eighth & Rail! It’s the band formerly known at Hatch (as in the TV Show Lost, I’d suspect). Not sure where the new name came from, but I did find the following definition on the internet. Put that definition with the band and it should be a great night of music. Precise definitions vary, but all agree that hypergiants are the most massive and luminous type of star… Read More

Lisa Ditchkoff’s Professional Event Planning Services (Peps) will soon relocate to Opelika in the Old Jan’s Creations Building on South 8th Street.  The building is undergoing a renovation.  New office space in the downstairs area and an apartment upstairs.  This is a major renovation for the building.  Included is a new coat of paint.  Gone is the Red and In is the Yellow.  Crews have been working on it for the past week or so. … Read More
