Okay , so I’m beginning to feel like the Grench that Stole Fellowship the past few months. Our Friday afternoon gatherings on the porch have taken a back seat to so many things the past few months. We’re going to try and get that back on track after the 4th, with a rotating group that will include a Lawyer, Interior Decorator, Software guy and some others all around Opelika. More on that later. Opelika City… Read More
Grabbed some Firewraps at Longhorne for dinner. Caught up with the doctor at The Rail. Kate’s folks (aka Kate & Revel) were there with the Rev. Got some great Kate stories for down the road. Little Bo had a good Vet Visit. His shots were just not a big deal, and he’s still friends with the Vet. This is a very good baby dog! Although I keep finding things that haven’t been “Puppy Proofed” yet around… Read More
So, it was Muse at Monkey Park on Tuesday Night. I’ve had a hard time with the calendar the past few weeks. Good crowd! Several of us moved over to The Rail. The Retired Professor, A Cartoonist, the Dirt Bike guy, a Banker, a New Sales Manager, some lady with a contract on someone, a construction guy and another banker (cuter), me and some other folks at Eighth & Rail. My little Buddy – Bo… Read More

Witt and Ann Wodall are having an open house today with wine and snacks from 5P-7PM at the shop. It about 10 miles out of Opelika on the right side of the highway in Salem. Look for the Yellow Roof and Train Cabbose. I just picked up an old wooden ice box out there last week for the kitchen. Some pretty good stuff and the prices are pretty good to. Mona, grabbed an “Old English… Read More
So far I haven’t caught him drinking my beer (but he likes to lick the cold cans before they are opened) and I’ve learned not to leave a coffee cup half full around him. Unlike some others who may made it by my house, he’s not left me a surprise on the floor Now those of you regular folks are probably wondering how this all came about. After all, I’ve not spent weeks talking about… Read More
Well first it was Taylor Hicks that played the Rail and made it all the way on American Idol. Now a couple of other Eighth & Rail regulars are going to be at Monkey Park for the Summer Swing this Tuesday Night. Dave Potts and Martha’s Trouble will both take the stage for an outdoor summer concert. Dave has played at Eight and Rail on regular weekend shows and most recently as part of the Star… Read More
There’s a private party on Friday Night , so the Tavern won’t open until 9PM for the rest of us. Obsession Day is on stage on Saturday Night . Here’s what the newsletter said: “ Join us this weekend on Saturday for Obsession Day. In an era when most band’s records are better than their live show and when it’s image over quality, Obsession Day stands a step above the rest, proving over and over… Read More
With some thunder and lightning around 8PM , I thought we would get some much needed rain this evening. It did rain at Tiger Town according to a neighbor. Also, JR (Cafe 123) checked in and Indian Pines got some rain. As for South 8th Street and most of the Northside, Nope! The temps today near 100, with the humidity factor, it was above that. Only the Mid-90′s tomorrow, Ahh, some Relief!! No city water restrictions… Read More
If you’ve not been in Barbara Patton’s Heritage Gifts and Gourmet in the past few weeks, you’ll be surpised at the new look this week. Canine American has taken up residence in the store with everything for your canine companion. Barbara has setup a special viewing area for the Snow Village collectables a little further back in the store. The floor plan is more open, so I’d offer you should drop by and take a peek. … Read More
