Two men accused of posing as law enforcement officers to rob an Auburn home at gunpoint were arrested on the West Coast this week and are awaiting extradition to Alabama, Auburn police said.
According to the Auburn Police Department, officers were called to a home in the 1300 block of East University Drive early on Sept. 3 after a robbery. Police say the suspects got into the home by pretending to be officers, held the people inside at gunpoint and stole valuables.
Investigators identified Zealand Jamar Adams, 41, of Kent, Wash., and Ramiro Vasquez, 39, of Chico, Calif., as suspects. Police said they used automated license plate reader technology to identify the men’s rental car and confirm that it had left the state. The U.S. Marshals Service arrested Adams in Seattle on Monday, Sept. 28, and found Vasquez in Chico later that day. Both were taken into custody without incident.
Each man faces four counts of first-degree burglary, four counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of unlawful imprisonment and one count of impersonating a peace officer. All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
