Nothing breaks the deep sleep on a raining Saturday morning more than the warning siren located just a few blocks from my house. At 7:40AM this morning, the fire department in Tallassee had spotted a tornado on the ground. Also a report near the Reeves airport near the Tallassee area. Probably the same storm. That weather is all moving this way. The guys at WSFA are saying some power lines are also down in that area. I’ll update this as the hour progresses.
7:51 the Tornado Warning Siren has gone off again to extend the waring thru 8:15. The storm is all north of the Tuskegee National forest. The storm is estimated to be in Opelika at about 8:20AM.
8:01 the Warning sounds again. The storm is in Auburn now with no other reports of Tornado. About 8:05 a Tornado near the Chewacla State Park south of Auburn.
8:10 Tornado on the ground moving east at 45 miles per hour south of Auburn
8:14 with big rain, lots of lighning and thunder! WSFA is reporting some damage reports coming from Auburn. Some additional reports of damage in Auburn with some overturned cars at USA Motors. Looks like all the action is south of Opelika. The rains are not as heavy right now (8:26AM)
Nice job of following the storm thru the area from WSFA. I lost the digital WSFA broadcast and flipped over to watch it on the web.
