TigerWings Connects Auburn-Area Children to Careers, From NASA to Honda

August 4, 2026 — Auburn, AL

TigerWings, an educational nonprofit for children ages 5 to 13 founded by Kristen Cooper, brings working professionals in to show kids what their jobs actually look like — recent visitors include NASA, Junior Achievement and Honda, usually with hands-on games or demonstrations.

During the summer the program partners with KidCam Camp Programs at Chewacla State Park; during the school year it runs afterschool at Lake Wilmore. “Ultimately we’re getting children off of screens and building community together,” Cooper told the Observer.

Cooper, a mother of three, named the program for the eagle and the tiger — “a place where Little Hearts Grow Bold and Prepare to Take Flight” — and says she built it around the kind of enriching, low-stress childcare working parents struggle to find.

The Observer’s full story has more from Cooper on how the program came together.
