The Spencer Cancer Center’s 22nd annual Think Pink celebration for breast cancer survivors, families and supporters is Saturday, Oct. 10, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the center, 2501 Village Professional Drive in Opelika, East Alabama Health announced.
Tickets are $15, and every participant must register. The online deadline to guarantee a commemorative T-shirt was Tuesday, Sept. 29, but people can still register in person the day of the event, with shirts available while supplies last. Plans include live entertainment, local vendors, food trucks, activities for all ages and a celebration walk for survivors.
This year’s theme is “Warriors in Pink.” Event coordinator Brandi Lashley, a women’s health navigator, told The Observer that the event has quadrupled in size over the past three years. “You become a survivor from the day of diagnosis,” she said.
Money raised goes to the EAMC Foundation’s Breast Health Fund, which pays for mammograms, ultrasounds, biopsies and other breast care for uninsured women and men in east Alabama. (The Observer’s story listed the day as a Thursday. Oct. 10 is a Saturday, which matches East Alabama Health’s announcement.)
