I’m sitting down to write this for the second time. I had just about finished it, when through the magic of my fat fingers, I deleted it before posting. Beautiful Opelika weekend as I sit on a friends back porch doing some dog sitting duties. If I come over they can get out of their crates, which is funny because I just checked to see where they all were and one was in the crate! Keep Opelika Beautiful’s Garden in the Park is today and had good crowds from what I understand. It’s graduation weekend so there are lots of Moms, Dads and students around town checking out one or two of the 8 resturants on South Railroad and 8th Streets, not to mention the Overall Company over on 10th. The new Carmike Cinema’s opened over in Tiger Town this week and have requested permission to sell Beer and Wine. City Council will vote on it after several sessions to discuss the pros and cons on Tuesday. The Council Person I spoke with wasn’t surprised with my opinion and didn’t give me the feeling this was going to pass. If it doesn’t I think the theaters can just go to ABC for permission, so it will probably happen. No need for Council to be controversial when it doesn’t really have to. Keep the tea totaliers happy! Then there’s that little race in Talladega this weekend. After catching the last four in rainly or cold weather, I’ve opted out this weekend, which is probably the best weather for racing. Dang it!
