Purple – All This Week!

Mayor Fuller and Mrs. Robbi BeauchampMayor Gary Fuller has issued a proclamation declaring that the week of May 4th – 9th is “Paint the Town Purple” Week in Opelika.  The purpose of “Paint the Town Purple” week is to 1) help support the Relay for Live event at Opelika’s Southern Union Community College track on May 8th and 9th that seeks to raise funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society’s cancer research, 2) celebrate with those who have battled cancer and have won, and 3) honor and remember those who have fought the good fight with cancer, leaving us all with a valuable legacy to carry on their name.

Mayor Fuller encourages all citizens and businesses in Opelika to place a purple bow on their doors or mailboxes all during the week of May 4th – 9th.  The mayor suggests that if you cannot place a bow on your door or mailbox, then please consider wearing the color purple at least on Friday, May 8th, which is also “Relay for Life Day” in Opelika.  (Pictured at right with Mayor Gary Fuller is Mrs. Robbi Beauchamp of Lee County’s Relay for Life Event.
