August 20, 2026 โ€” Opelika, AL

Opelika Parks and Recreation cut the ribbon Thursday morning on a new inclusive playground at West Ridge Park, opening the equipment to the public after a 9 a.m. ceremony followed by free play.

The roughly $500,000 playground is the first completed piece of a broader renovation of the park that city officials have put at about $2.4 million. Remaining work includes new surfacing and fencing for the Miracle League field, park-wide fence replacement, restroom and press box renovations and upgrades to the baseball and softball fields.
