OPELIKA — Aug. 20, 2026
The Opelika Public Library is widening its reach beyond its own walls, with plans for a mobile book locker that would let residents pick up and return materials outside library hours.
Library staff reported that more than 3,000 people across Lee County took part in story times during fiscal 2026, part of an outreach push aimed at residents who cannot easily get to the building.
The Opelika Observer reported the outreach update and locker plans in detail on Aug. 18.
