Opelika Launches New Website and ‘Caboose,’ a 24/7 AI Resident Assistant

August 11, 2026 — Opelika, AL

The City of Opelika has launched a new website along with a refreshed city brand and an expanded resident communication service, part of the ‘Where Life Feels Connected’ push Mayor Eddie Smith introduced in his first State of the City address. The rebuilt site went live Aug. 4 and was designed by the Community Relations Department to make information easier to find and city services easier to access.

The most visible change is Caboose, the next generation of ConnectOpelika. Described by the city as a friendly, AI-powered guide, Caboose helps residents find answers, report issues and connect with city staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is available in 72 languages by text or chat.
