Opelika Kicks Off Weekend with First Friday

17306004_sIt’s First Friday in Opelika this week. Shops open late and of course the usual selection of dining all around town. “Opelika is Film’s” presentation of Muscle Shoals will be at the Train Station, next to the Depot at 7PM, there’s music afterward as well. If you’ve not been in this old warehouse space that formerly was where lots of freight arrived via train, you should probably check it out. On top of that, it’s amazing to see what artist recorded their songs in this southern home of music, right here in Alabama.

Damn Skippy is playing over at Eight and Rail, which is a perfect night, especially if you want to add some Sushi to the evening. I tried a cheesecake offering, also made by Mike, Owner and Sushi Chef, which pretty much rocked. The Rail will close on Saturday with the Night game at Auburn. Probably a quiet night around “O” Town.

Larcus “Silky Tones” Fuller will be over at Jefferson’s Opelika beginning at 7PM. Since Opelika High is on the road to Alex City to Play Benjamin Russell, some DAWG fans will probably gather here to catch the webcast of the game, on the big TV’s thanks to that little Goggle Chromecast, aka, “Miracle of Modern Television”.

There are probably other places for stuff downtown, but I tend to just mention my hangouts! Weather calls for only a 30% change of rain, so hopefully, the night will be great! See you there. (Photo Copyright: Mila Gligoric)
