The City of Opelika announced on April 22 that Madison Bush has joined the Opelika Economic Development team as Project Manager for Talent Attraction and Business Retention & Expansion.
Bush will focus on identifying, attracting, and developing talent to support the workforce needs of Opelika’s growing base of advanced manufacturing and innovative industries. Her role will emphasize strengthening relationships with existing employers, supporting business retention and expansion, and enhancing workforce pipelines through strategic partnerships — including collaboration with Southern Union State Community College and the continued expansion of Opelika’s Career Skills Program for transitioning military members.
“Having her and Grace Dickerson, our other Workforce Project Manager, working together under our newly launched POW-R Workforce Initiative, will allow us to deliver much-needed workforce support to all businesses located in Opelika, regardless of size or sector,” said Economic Development Director John Sweatman.
Mayor Eddie Smith also welcomed Bush to the team: “Madison brings valuable experience and energy to our economic development efforts. As Opelika continues to grow, attracting and developing a strong workforce is essential.”
