The Opelika Fire Department received a grant from the Mid South RC&D Council to purchase six Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) kits — specialized gear designed to assist in the rescue of firefighters in distress during emergency operations. “These Rapid Intervention Team kits will help ensure our firefighters have the equipment they need to protect one another while serving our community,” said Fire Chief Shane Boyd. The department also acknowledged the Lee County Legislative Delegation for their continued support of public safety initiatives.
