Official Grand Dad

Bryce David joined us Saturday at 8PM Central Time.  Jen went to the hospital about 4:30PM. Fine looking little guy checking in at  8 pounds 13 Oz and 20 Inches Long.

The new Grand Dad with Bryce David

Jenny delivered at the Birthing Center at the North Fulton County Hospital in Roswell, GA.  The only other real Birthing Center that Midwives have to use in Georgia is in Rincon, Georgia near Savannah.  It’s kinda the best of both worlds, as there’s the security of the hospital staff if something were to go wrong, but the thought process of the Birthing Center, which lets the Mom and Dad run the show.  Well, actually, I guess Bryce David really was running the show now that I think of it.

I got the call around 2:30 Central Time in a call cut short by a contraction (Jen said… I gotta go Daddy)… Jenny & Scott were on what turned into about an hour drive up Georgia 400 to the center.  I got to the Center about 7PM and gathered with some of the extended family for the wait in the hallway just outside the main nurse station. Two hours later we were all inside Jen’s room as Bryce made his first rounds of the family faces. All got equal time on that first holding! It was a great experience! Danny Dennis at work may be right, as he said things aren’t the same after a Grandson is born.  Since I breezed thru Atlanta traffic on the way home (I hate driving in Atlanta) I can see he may be right.  Guess I’ll need to work some extra gas dollars in for Atlanta Road Trips the next few weeks.

One final note.  It was all natural.  No medications which made for a very alert Mom just after the birth.  Jenny has looked more tired from a workout in her Tap class than she did from this.  Nice Job Daughter! Dad (and I know Mom) were both proud of you! Excuse me, I’ve got to grab another tissue!  CYA
