Notes from the Road

MissZMaxwithJerryKatzAs is generally the case with me, my trip to Hampton for the race weekend, hasn’t gone exactly as planned. I did make a quick stop at Grantville on the way over, but decided the best way to do the Dead Tour was to join the group on weekends. I’ll come back in a few weeks. Over in Senoia I made a quick drive through town, and again decided a visit here would be better on a weekend without a camper in tow and time to sit in front a coffee shop with friends. And you thought we had a parking problem in Opelika! There was a street closed and probable filming going on near downtown.

All is good at the track. I have always wanted to arrive on Wednesday and now that I have think it may be a day too early. I have had some time to do some reading and relaxing. The folks camping next to me drove down from Vermont on Saturday and arrived about two hours before the nigh race and will leave for home on Monday. It should be noted that they seemed happy with the sun and hot temperatures that are above normal for this area this year. Now that is a trip to the racetrack. I got to sit in on a question session with Burton Smith (CEO of Corporation that owns this and other tracks) and Ed Clark the big man in charge at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. I recorded that and will share some Burton Smith wisdom in a later post. Also got a picture with Miss ZMax. You’ll see her in the winner’s circle in her white fire suit. She is the very dynamic spokesperson for ZMax and one of the reasons I’ve become their latest customer. But if you know me, I’m a pushover when it comes to a pretty girl!

Showers have held off in the area and we hope that holds for this evening. More to come…
