Okay, so go ahead and mark Tuesday, December 13th on your calendar. It’s the Very Jerry Christmas. What I’d hope to be a celebration of my return to 175 pounds, but it’s going to be something else I suspect. More information coming later. Just plan to be at Eighth & Rail for the event, and plan to leave your wallet at home, cause someone else is buying the drinks!! (I wonder what fat grey haired old man would be doing that?)
I think we’re planning on comissioning Martha’s Trouble to write a song, based on the Burl Ives “Holly Jolly Christmas“, that makes some reference to not loosing the weight because of beer. How shallow is that?
We’re planning a shorten version of Fellowship this week, as several of us (not me) are out of town, and the in town folks are planning to push over to the Fine Arts Center to see the Opelika High School production of “Picnic“.
And remember the picture of the Old Farmer’s Bank posted a few days ago? Well Henry Stern was able to identify some of those buildings behind the bank. It’s funny, because the building that some of us thought looked like a church was the old County Jail. Thinking back to my days in Savannah, the old County Jail there had much of the same look! Be sure to check the link and read his comments! I’ll have more on this later, as I think Henry had some photos of that section of Avenue A on his website.
So what’s with this Winter Weather? The Opelika Temps are in the Mid 40′s the past few days. When you consider the Upper 80′s a few days ago, this is pretty big news. With the price of Natural Gas up this year, I’ve been trying to find the right temperature for the house. My biggest bill last year was about $140 and I can’t imagine this going to $240 under the current fuel cost. We talked about what folks are setting the night temp at at the house and it’s from 64 to 78. So what do you do and are you gas or electric on the heat? Ouch! Someone is going to pay for gas thru the butt for that. (Did I say something funny just then? Uh, Gas thru the butt!! That would be expected – right?)
So last weekend was a lousy weekend for Auburn Football. Well Jason, our Outbacker at the bar has gone out on the limb this week in support of the kicker with a bad week. Auburn fans have a very short attention span, you know. Nice to see someone take a stand Jason!! Rock On!
