August 11, 2026 — Lee County, AL

Responding to public questions about its role in federal immigration enforcement, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said it ‘has, and will continue to, cooperate with ICE in the arrest, detention, and transfer of individuals who are in violation of federal immigration law,’ and that it continues to work with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The agency also released figures: it assisted with the transfer of 271 individuals to ICE custody in 2025, and through July 2026 had detained 152 individuals for transfer. The sheriff’s office said the numbers, along with other key statistics, are posted publicly at leecosheriffal.gov.
