The Lee County Red Cross has closed the warming and feeding center at Philadelphia Baptist Church in Smiths, Station Alabama as crowds dissipated late Saturday night. The Red Cross mobile feeding truck was again in the Salem area early this morning offering breakfast and hot coffee to all those in need and remained in the area Sunday afternoon.  Red Cross outreach teams were going door to door making sure everyone impacted by the storm had food and a warm, safe place to stay.  Residents who have lost their homes or who have suffered major structural damage and need a place to stay can call the Lee County Red Cross at 334-749-9981 to open a case and get help.

You can help your local Red Cross with donations of time, blood and money. Call the Lee County Red Cross at 334-749-9981 or visit the local website at www.leeredcross.org to get involved or make a donation.  Although no life-threatening injuries have yet been reported from this storm, blood is always needed to ensure the American Red Cross is able to respond to future disasters and medical emergencies. The Lee County Red Cross will be hosting a blood drive on Wednesday, March 4 from 12:00 – 6:00 p.m. at their office located at 206 26th St. in Opelika. No appointment is necessary.
