Kreher Preserve’s Halloween Enchanted Forest Lights Up the Trails Tonight and Saturday

Auburn’s Kreher Preserve & Nature Center and the Auburn Area Community Theatre are hosting the Halloween Enchanted Forest tonight, Friday, Oct. 2, and Saturday, Oct. 3, at the preserve, 2222 North College Street.

Small groups walk a string-lit trail and meet costumed performers playing native plants and animals, such as a dancing wildflower, a storytelling beaver or a singing alligator. Each one does a short act with music, poetry, humor and nature facts. After the walk, families can head to the KPNC amphitheater for s’mores, hot chocolate and family-friendly Halloween movies.

Groups leave every 10 minutes from 5:30 to 7 p.m., and each walk takes about 45 to 55 minutes. Each time slot holds 25 people, so KPNC recommends buying tickets early and arriving 15 minutes before your start time. Tickets are $10 per person, and children 2 and under get in free. A whole time slot can be booked for $225. Family-friendly costumes are encouraged and closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended. The preserve says the event may not suit children who are frightened by costumed characters.

The event will be postponed or canceled if the weather is bad, so check KPNC’s website and social media before heading out.
