Jones Outraised Tuberville in July, but Tuberville Keeps a Wide Cash Advantage

Democratic gubernatorial nominee Doug Jones outraised Republican nominee Tommy Tuberville for a second straight month in July, according to campaign finance reports filed Tuesday — but Tuberville still holds a commanding advantage in money available to spend.

Jones raised about $622,000 in July to Tuberville’s roughly $290,000. In June, Jones raised nearly $486,000 to Tuberville’s $415,000.

The cash-on-hand picture is far more lopsided. As of July 31, Tuberville’s campaign reported about $9.2 million available; Jones reported about $1.7 million. Tuberville’s fundraising has been buoyed by a steady stream of donations of $25,000 or more.

The two face each other in the Nov. 3 general election.
