Obviously, I like me some NASCAR racing. Talladega, aka Dega has produced some interesting (if not always exciting) races over the past few years. The Infield Camping passes came this time with Dega Club Membership and some special treats. I would be remiss, if I didn’t thank buddy John Story for grabbing these the past several races. A nice location, in turn three about six rows back. With John’s Motorhome, a great view of the turn from the roof. From my Jayco Pull Behind, the roof offers nothing but a view of the side of John’s (and other) campers parked nearby. Yea, and I don’t have one of those neat roof ladders either. Nearby, a great grassy view of the turn, where all the action happened for the spring race. It always rains when I do the race, but very little in the weekend forecast this time. But, it’s Talladega and a rainy day there is better than most anywhere else. In the turn three area, some really great Cajun food from some Die Hard LSU fans. I can get past their school affiliation for the good times that are Dega! It’s just a great tailgate with race fans.
I’ll push off from Opelika on Thursday. There are several ways to get to Dega (aka Lincoln, AL) and the track. I like the 280 route up to Sylacauga and turn right, then left, then right. I don’t think OnStar gives it quiet that way, but I think I’ll be okay. I tend to over-simplify things! Then it’s a wait in the “Staging Area” to enter the track (across the speedway just at Turn Three) when the actitives for the day are complete. Normally around 5PM or so, and last year much later after 8 or so. But did anyone care, Nope! We just love Dega!
Back at the office in Opelika, the dog sitter will move in as the Jayco leaves the driveway. Bo and Mitch will have new company and probably get more treats and maybe a cold Miller Lite along the way. They are so spoiled!
