In Search of Walkers and Racers

WoodburyTwonHallMy planned trip to the Atlanta Motor Speedway (AMS) this weekend calls for a Wednesday Morning Departure. With that being said, that is always the plan, however in the past I have scurried around getting late minute things ready to go for the adventure and finally leave on Thursday.  Ah, but this year should be different, as I’ve done a little something every day for the past several weeks. My house/dog sitter arrives Wednesday so I’m hitting the road.

Now the shortest distance to AMS doesn’t go thru Grantville or Senoia Georgia, but that’s the route. Fans of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” understand the detour.  Grantville is home of the filming of a season three pivotal episode “Clear” and of course Senoia is a prime location for most of Season Three shooting which included Main Street being converted to the town of Woodbury. In Grantville I plan to stop by Jim’s Corner to grab a map for a self-guided Walking (Alive) Tour. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to catch one of the weekend evening guided tours, but maybe next time. I will make a s top at Station 22 for a cup of coffee for sure.

Senoia is not new to the film industry with other movies such as “Driving Miss Daisy” filmed there. Raleigh Studios from Atlanta actually has setup shop there in a permanent facility, which backside doubles as the Prison Home of the band of heroes.  I’ve driven by the town countless times going to and coming from AMS. This time, a left turn to check out Main Street. More in coming days, if the Walkers don’t get me.
