‘Hives Alive’ Turns Honeybee Nest Data Into Art at the Davis Arboretum Friday

AUBURN — An art-and-science exhibit built from honeybee research opens Friday, Sept. 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Auburn University’s Donald E. Davis Arboretum, 181 Garden Drive.

“Hives Alive” comes out of the university’s Smith Bee Lab, which scanned honeybee nests in three dimensions. The installation blows that data up to a larger-than-life illuminated structure visitors can walk around.

The opening is free and open to the community, students, alumni and staff. It is hosted by the College of Sciences and Mathematics.
