Hal Smith’s Store

Hal Smith's Store at 1000 2nd Avenue in Opelika Alabama

Had to buy gas for the 13th time this year today. It was my second purchase at the former Probate Judge’s store. The Big Cat on Second Avenue is now “Hal Smith’s Store” and my new place to buy gas (and maybe a cold beverage or two). Hal may want to stock up on saltine crackers and sardines, since Jimmy Johnson is just a half block away and really loves those nasty things!! Hal has installed the “Pay at the Pump” which I would drive another mile or so to use for the ease of the transition. I’ve taken my summary of gas purchases for the year, from the Alabama Gas Prices Website for the Beetle and noted them below!!
