German Consul General Visits Miele Manufacturing Plant

April 16, 2026

German Consul General of the Southeast, Mrs. Melanie Moltmann, visited Miele’s Opelika production facility — the company’s first manufacturing site in the United States. Accompanied by John Sweatman of Opelika’s Economic Development Department and Tine Hoffmeister of the Alabama-Germany Partnership, the delegation toured six fully operational assembly lines producing 30-inch, 36-inch, and 48-inch ovens and ranges exclusively for the North American market. Miele recently celebrated the assembly of its 10,000th unit since launching production in fall 2024. “Today’s visit highlights the international partnerships essential to Miele’s success,” said Sweatman.
