I was hanging out in front of Eighth and Rail tonight, talking to some folks that stopped in Opelika on their way to Ashville. These Houston travellers seem to like our little downtown area. They had spoken to an Auburn University professor that had explained the history of the bars downtown and the shots fired at passing passenger trains in the day. I told them of Debbie Purves’ story of the building that houses the Gallery on Railraod, that was once a Brothel. I’ll let her tell that to you if you’ve not heard her version.
They brought up the fact that Friday will be the first time since October 2000 that we have a Friday the 13th on the Night of a Full Moon. So of course I had to do some reading. Here’s an good link for more information! Next time is August 13, 2049, which I suspect I may miss, along with several friends my age. (Photo Copyright: marincas_andrei / 123RF Stock Photo
