“Field Notes” from Opelika Daily News

Starting the year right with Field Notes GearNot since my days in the Air National Guard when I would always have one of those green memo books (I use to know the GSA Number by heart), has my life been complete as it is today.  In the mail on Boxing Day was that little envelope from Chicago filled with my stash of “Field Notes” gear. I’m not sure when I stumbled accross their web site, but it has been months and Santa finally heard my request and true to his word, it arrived a day late.  You know, I’ve always been somewhat of an office supply freak!

But enough about me, the 48 page memo books are printed and manufactured “proudly” in the USA.  The back page is filled with ideas for the little guys that you wouldn’t have really thought of before. For example, one idea is your Last Will and Testiment.  That’s a pretty good idea, but after listing my worldly possessions, what could I do with the other 46 pages.  The back cover is also scribed with a 5 inch ruler, which is probably as much as any man could use or need. I also grabbed some of the retro pens, wooden pencils and nifty 2009 calendar filled with lots of  “Real Big Days” listed on the back.

So happy with these little books, I’ll be passing out more to the entire writting and editorial staff here at the Opelika Daily News.   These hardy little books will be our new “Reporters Notebooks” going forward.  So, if you want to be cool like the ODN, you should probably check out their website www.fieldnotesbrand.com for more information. They’ve got links to various sites around the world that have discovered other useful ways to fill the pages with art and more.   And yes, the next time you see me, ask if you can write something in my “Field Notes” and I’ll gladly let you join the revolution.
