Electronics Recycling Back in June

On Saturday, June 20th local citizens are encouraged to participate in Keep Opelika Beautiful’s Summer Electronics Recycling Event. The event will take place at Miles Thomas Field off Rocky Brook Road in Opelika. With a start time of 8:00 a.m., there will be plenty of time for people to drop off their items before the event wraps up at 12:00 p.m. This is the second event of this kind sponsored by Keep Opelika Beautiful.

Keep Opelika Beautiful will partner with Creative Recycling out of Palmetto, Georgia to host the recycling event. Items available for recycle include: TVs, computer screens, CD & DVD drives, scanners, kitchen appliances, video games, microwaves and cell phones. There is a $10 fee for the disposal of TVs but no charge for other items. Businesses or residents with bulk items are encouraged to contact Creative Recycling directly for pick-ups.

“We are excited to host another electronics recycling event. In January, we collected over 25,000 lbs of recyclable items. As always, we appreciate the City of Opelika working with us to encourage citizens to recycle unused or obsolete items” said Tipi Miller, director of Keep Opelika Beautiful.

For a comprehensive list of items that will be accepted or directions to the site, contact Keep Opelika Beautiful at (334) 749-4970
