Dueling Pianos Fundraiser ‘Keys for Kids’ Comes to Spring Villa Sept. 24

The Boys & Girls Clubs of East Alabama will hold its second major fundraiser of the year on Sept. 24, and the audience does a fair amount of the work.

Keys for Kids is a dueling-pianos show: two pianists and a drummer take song requests from the crowd, with a donation attached to each request. Director of Operations AJ Harris described it as part comedy show, part karaoke and part live concert, and said the goal is a party atmosphere rather than a traditional banquet.

The event starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Spring Villa Lodge in Opelika. Tickets are available at bgceastal.org. The clubs held a dueling piano event in Troy last year and planned from the start to bring it to Opelika; a Troy edition follows in October.

Harris said the wider aim is exposure — reaching people who may not know what the clubs actually do for young people in east Alabama.
