Creekside Cottages, a brand-new build-to-rent (BTR) townhome community developed by Jim Chapman Construction Group for a publicly traded REIT, has opened for leasing in Opelika. The 225-unit Phase I community is located at the intersection of Society Hill Road and Gateway Drive, approximately eight miles east of Auburn University, and is served by the Opelika City Schools attendance zone.
Homes range from 1,000 to 1,439 square feet, with two- and three-bedroom floor plans. Each unit features an attached one- or two-car garage, vinyl plank flooring, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and an in-unit washer and dryer. Monthly rents range from $1,875 to $2,299, with lease options of 13–24 months.
Community amenities include gated access, a clubhouse, swimming pool, dog park, sidewalks and streetlights, and onsite property management. Vertical construction began in early 2026 after land development concluded in January 2026. Full buildout is planned at up to 303 total units. The community represents JCCG’s fourth collaboration with a publicly traded REIT and its first build-to-rent project in the Auburn-Opelika market.
