With 18 days to go before leaving for the Atlanta Motor Speedway and the Biggest Labor Day Party in the south, I started working on the Jayco Camper. Normally, I would be doing this aweek before, but I’ve got some extra energy this week and thought it would be good to start now. I had several problems on the last outing, so I’ve been working thru the list to tackle each of them.
For some reason at Talladega in the spring, the TV wouldn’t pick up any of the Birmingham Television stations. I know, camping, why have TV? Have to stay current on the news. So today, I discovered a button on the panel where the cable to the TV is plugged in. It’s a hidden panel, and I only was able to see it after sticking my iPhone down behind the ledge and snap a few pictures. Who knew there was a button there to select from the Camper outside Antenna, or Cable? This something I should have learned three years ago, but what the heck, I got it today. Perfect, 28+ channels in HD in the camper in the driveway in Opelika.
I headed to Auburn, Alabama U-Haul, which is by far the best place in town to purchase Propane. You pay a better price, use your own tank (which I think may be in better shape than some swap places) and the folks are really nice! The tank was pretty low, and that is probably the reason for another issue I had, in that the hot water heater wouldn’t stay lit at Dega. I’ll be firing that up tomorrow and see what the deal is there.
After camping for four years in the Jayco, I discovered a place to put the small HD TV I have, without mounting it to the wall. It’s been on the small counter space up till now, but I found that it fits nicely into the cabinet above the sink. There’s where I watched most of the golf tourney on Saturday while cleaning up a bit. In the past I’ve stuck bread or buns up there, which I generally find months later when cleaning for the next trip. That was the case today. More on this adventure in coming days!
