Canadian’s Take a Monday Holiday!

canada-dayAs many of you know, the writer of this Blog works full time for BroadView Software in Toronto.  We’ve got the 4th of July this week, and the Canadians have Canada Day on Monday, eh?  Those of us in the lower 48 will work as a regular day and grab on day off on Thursday  for Independence Day.

Not that Opelika doesn’t have a few Canadians around town because we do. So to Jen, our friend from Martha’s Trouble and Aaron, who is making downtown look a little bit better with quality restoration of several properties, enjoy the long weekend.

Canada Day is the national day of Canada, a federal statutory holiday celebrating the anniversary of the July 1, 1867, enactment of the British North America Act, 1867 (today called the Constitution Act, 1867), which united three colonies into a single country called Canada within the British Empire.Originally called Dominion Day (French: Le Jour de la Confédération), the holiday was renamed in 1982, the year the Canada Act was passed. Canada Day observances take place throughout Canada as well as among Canadians internationally. (Source: Wiki)
