Well, the Red Beetle has been somewhat a trademark for me the past several years. Being the third owner of the now eight year old symbol of times gone by, I felt it was time to move on.

I know I had said I was going to by a car built in Alabama, but Gary Snell doesn’t sell that kind, and he’s the only person I’ll ever buy a car from again. Gary actually hooked me up with Mark Robinson who did all the work on the deal. What a pleasure to work with the guys at Glynn Smith Chevrolet in Opelika. Okay, Johnny Jones, you did a nice job too! The truck was assembled in Shreveport, LA – so it’s a Southern Truck after all!
So there it is – a 2006 Colorado Crew Cab from Chevrolet. I was able to keep the Beetle Red as you’ll notice. It was just crazy to keep hauling yard stuff in the back of the bug. Now, I even have room for a baby car seat, if the need were to arise in coming months. If the rains stop this morning, several of us are heading to Waverly for the Old 280 Boogie, for the first official Road Trip. I’ll update you in coming weeks on the gas milage I’ll be getting. And this was the news I was worried about for Jason. He just bought a new Toyota Crew Cab.
