Auburn Council Clears ‘Project V’ Manufacturing Site and Two Student-Housing Redevelopments

AUBURN — Aug. 20, 2026

A large-scale manufacturing project identified in Auburn city records only as “Project V” cleared a key hurdle Aug. 18 when the City Council voted unanimously to approve it. The Planning Commission had approved a conditional use permit for manufacturing at the site on Aug. 13.

At the same meeting the council approved performance residential (multi-unit) development for 126 units at LeMans Apartments, 560 Perry St., and 65 units at Chateau Apartments, 560 N. Gay St.

The two-year apartment redevelopment near Auburn University is planned to begin construction next summer. WTVM reported that current residents have raised concerns about displacement and rents during the rebuild.
