Argentina-Iceland Friendly Delivered $27.2 Million to the Lee County Economy, Study Finds

The June 9 Argentina-Iceland exhibition at Jordan-Hare Stadium generated an estimated $27.2 million in economic impact for Lee County and $79.7 million in media-equivalent exposure, according to a study commissioned by Auburn and prepared with Auburn-Opelika Tourism and Collegiate Consulting.

The findings were presented to the Auburn University Board of Trustees at its September meeting and released publicly afterward.

The match was the first international soccer game played at Jordan-Hare. Hosting it required Auburn to move a football date, and the impact report is the university’s answer to whether the trade was worth it.
