And the Winner Is…

Well, maybe it is better said, the Winners are…

It’s been a few years since I purchased a ticket in the Historic Preservation Society’s $10,000 Grand Slam Drawdown.  There are 300 tickets sold at $100 each, taped to the wall, and one by one, they are pulled from the wall through a random drawing.  A few tickets along the way win $100 cash or other prizes, but the Big Winner, if there is only one, gets $10,000.  I say, “If there is only one” because as the group remaining dwindles to 10, you can stop and split the money, if the whole group agrees.  The year I won, we decided to stop at six remaining. That gave us each $1,666, cash in my pocket, with a scheduled trip to Las Vegas the following week.  None made it to savings, as I am a financial genius. This past week, it came down to the four numbers pictured, giving each $2,500.  Congratulations!
