Alabama Holocaust Commission State Yom Hashoah Commemoration

Alabama Holocaust Commission

Governor bob Riley is on hand for this event in the Old House Chamber of the State Capital.  The event is sponsored by the Alabama Holocaust Commission.  The Alabama Holocaust Commission, a state agency, utilizes both public and private resources to provide Holocaust and genocide education to all Alabamians.  Through Holocaust and genocide education, the Commission seeks to foster an understanding of one of the darkest periods in the history of mankind.  The program which begins at 10:30 is followed by a luncheon and then Recognition by State Legislators, Holocaust Survivors will be introduced in the  House Chamber,  of the Alabama State House.  Our good friend Henry Stern will be in Montgomery for the event and I hope will share comments and thoughts after the event.

Holocaust Remembrance Day, is observed as a day of commemoration for the approximately six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust. In Israel, it is a national memorial day.
