AACT’s Junior Performers Stage ‘Imagine a Dragon’ in October; SceneWorks Returns in December

Auburn Area Community Theatre’s Junior Performers, ages 5 to 12, will stage the family musical “Imagine a Dragon” this October, according to an announcement from AACT published in the Opelika Observer.

In the show, a group of struggling innkeepers invent a dragon to bring questing heroes to their Dancing Dragon Inn, and then have to deal with the crowd that turns up. Performances are at the Jan Dempsey Community Arts Center, 222 E. Drake Ave., Auburn, at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 1, 2, 3, 5, 8 and 9, with 4 p.m. matinees on Oct. 3 and 10. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors at AuburnACT.org.

AACT is also bringing back SceneWorks, a program where adults 18 and up act in or direct short scenes instead of a full-length play. The finished scenes will be performed Dec. 3-6. Later in the 2026-27 season, AACT will stage “Between the Lines” with its Young Performers, ages 13-18, and the drama “The Diviners.”
